The old classic!!Did you ever see the documentary on how Mandelbrot worked this out?He was in a lot of written communication with M.C. Escher one my favourite artists.M.C. was trying to use the mathematical equations of Mandelbrot in his works and in doing so helped push further along until he discovered this.You should read or see the doc.There were a lot of artists who worked with mathematicians.Buckminster Fuller was one of the best math artists as well.The father of the geodesic dome.Architects would be lost without Fuller and modern areas of measurement would be lost without Mandelbrot who just wanted to be able to measure the area of a tree including all of the leaves and stems.Thats all it all began.
